RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer
The only means of obtaining the RDCS credential is by examination. Required examination prerequisites must be fully met before an applicant can earn an ARDMS credential. Applicants are required to pass two comprehensive examinations to earn the RDCS credential listed below.
Beginning Spring 2014, the Fetal Echocardiography (FE) and Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) specialty examinations for the RDCS (and FE for RDMS) credential will be offered during select windowed administration periods. Applications for the Spring 2014 administration will open on December 12, 2013. Click here to view the press release and visit the FE and PE examination pages for more information.
Specialty examinations within the RDCS credential:
Fetal Echocardiography - Applications open on December 12, 2013
Pediatric Echocardiography - Applications open on December 12, 2013
Please note: Applicants may pursue the FE specialty under either the RDMS or RDCS credential. Once the designated credential is earned, it cannot be switched.
*The UPI, CPI and VPI examinations have been replaced by the SPI examination and are no longer offered by ARDMS.
