Application Process & Resources: Examination Pathways (first time applicants)
ARDMS currently offers nine (9) prerequisites under which to apply for an ARDMS examination. An applicant must select a prerequisite under which he or she wants to apply for an ARDMS specialty examination and/or the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination. Each prerequisite requires (1) the appropriate educational background, (2) necessary clinical ultrasound or vascular experience and (3) required documentation that must be submitted with the application. All three components of the applied-for prerequisite must be met before an application can be approved and an applicant can be allowed to examine.

Examination Pathways (re-applicants)
Re-applicant: If you are applying for certification in a new specialty area, you must be sure to have a valid CV form on file. If you do not, you must submit an original completed ARDMS CV form in the applied-for specialty area. All CV forms are valid for one year following the date of signature. Please include your ARDMS number on all supporting documentation. Prerequisites do not apply to re-applicants.
