CME Audit Process
On March 19, 2012 ARDMS will begin the CME audit process for Registrants with the three-year CME period of January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2011*. A letter will be sent via first class-mail on March 19th to Registrants selected for the CME audit. Registrants may also visit their MY ARDMS page for notices regarding CME audit selections.
The information listed below is for the general audit process.
To successfully complete the ARDMS CME audit, please follow the required steps below and submit at least 30 ARDMS-accepted CME’s to the ARDMS office on or before April 30, 2012. Please remember, if you do not submit at least 30 ARDMS-accepted CME’s to be received in the ARDMS office on or before April 30, 2012, your credential(s) will be revoked.
To successfully complete the CME audit, please follow the required steps below:
1. Print out a copy of your ARDMS CME transcript by logging on to the secure MY ARDMS section of the ARDMS website at ARDMS.org/MYARDMS.
To simplify the CME audit process, ARDMS has established automatic CME reporting programs with the SDMS CME Tracker, Chrestomathic Press, Inc. and the Institute for Advanced Medical Education (IAME). CME’s earned via these organizations** are automatically reflected on your ARDMS CME transcript. All CME’s listed on the ARDMS CME transcript have already been reviewed and accepted by ARDMS and additional documentation showing you earned these CME’s is not required.
2. Gather copies of all CME certificates earned during your three-year ARDMS CME period that are not already listed on your ARDMS CME transcript. Please send copies – do not send the original certificates.
CME documentation (certificates) must include the following information.
- Your full name (handwritten entries are acceptable),
- Your ARDMS number (handwritten entries are acceptable),
- Date of course or activity, dated between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2011* (must be pre-printed; handwritten entries will be denied),
- Name of the ARDMS-approved provider organization (e.g., General Hospital and Medical Center) and ARDMS-approved sponsoring organization (e.g., AMA cat.1, ASRT cat. A and A+, ASUM, CMECmte–CMA, CSDMS, CSVS, SDMS, SVU; list is subject to change; see ARDMS.org for a complete list) (must be pre-printed; handwritten entries will be denied),
- Title of course or activity (must be pre-printed; handwritten entries will be denied), and
- Number of credit hours awarded (handwritten entries are acceptable).
3. Count the number of credits on your ARDMS CME transcript and CME certificate copies to assure that together they total the required minimum of 30 ARDMS-accepted CME credits.
RPVI Registrants Only: The 30 ARDMS-accepted CME credits submitted for the CME audit must all be related to vascular ultrasound.
4. Mail your complete CME audit documentation (ARDMS CME transcript and copies of your CME certificates not listed on your ARDMS transcript) in the envelope (provided in your March 19th notification letter) to be received at the ARDMS office on or before April 30, 2012. Please affix proper postage. ARDMS does not accept CME documentation sent by fax or e-mail. If you do not have the provided envelope, please mail the documentation to: ARDMS, Attn: CME Audit, 51 Monroe Street, PE 1, Rockville, MD 20850.
If you fail to submit at least 30 ARDMS-accepted CME’s for receipt on or before April 30, 2012, your credential(s) will be revoked.
If you realize that you are not in compliance with the above requirements, please follow the CME reinstatement procedures available online at ARDMS.org/cmereinstatement.
If ARDMS has questions concerning your submitted CME certificates, ARDMS reserves the right to request original documents. Please keep copies of your CME documentation and this letter for your records.
Because of the large volume of CME’s that must be processed during the audit, ARDMS cannot verify receipt of your CME documentation until the conclusion of the audit process. You may send in your CME audit documentation using certified mail, which will enable you to receive a delivery receipt. You should receive your CME audit results by June 29, 2012. Results will also be posted on MY ARDMS (ARDMS.org/MYARDMS). Results will not be released by phone, fax or e-mail. After your CME documentation has been received and reviewed, you will receive written notification from ARDMS.
Thank you and good luck!
*If you earned your first credential in 2008, your three-year CME period began the day you attained the first credential and includes any time that remained in 2008 plus the next three years (January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2011).
**Only ARDMS Registrants who are also current members of the SDMS will have SDMS CME credits automatically reflected on their ARDMS CME transcript.
