CME Audit Process

ARDMS has completed its random audit of Registrants for CME credits earned during the January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2010 three-year CME period. The deadline for reinstatement has passed (August 1, 2011). Appeals for the above stated CME audit period are no longer being accepted.

The information listed below is for the general audit process. 

In order to successfully complete the ARDMS CME audit, please follow the mandatory step below.  You will be notified if you are audited in March 2012. In case you are audited, the required information listed below  must be received in the ARDMS office on or before April 30, 2012.  If you fail to submit at least 30 ARDMS-accepted CMEs on or before April 30, 2012, your credential(s) will be revoked.

1. Print out a copy of your ARDMS transcript by logging in to your MY ARDMS account.

To simplify the CME audit process for Registrants, ARDMS has established automatic CME reporting processes with the SDMS tracker program and Chrestomathic Press, Inc., CME’s earned via either organization are now automatically reflected on your ARDMS transcript which can be viewed by loggin in to your MY ARDMS account. 

2. Provide copies of all CME certificates earned during your three-year ARDMS CME period (credits must total a minimum of 30 ARDMS-accepted CME credits) that are not listed on your ARDMS transcript. ARDMS does not accept CME documentation sent by means of fax or e-mail. 

CME documentation (certificates) must accurately reflect, at a minimum, the following:

  • Your full name (handwritten entries are acceptable),
  • Your ARDMS number (handwritten entries are acceptable),
  • Date of course or activity, dated between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2011* (must be reflected as MM/DD/YYYY and must be pre-printed; handwritten entries will be denied),
  • Name of the ARDMS-approved provider organization (e.g., General Hospital and Medical Center) and ARDMS-approved sponsoring organization (e.g., AMA cat.1, ASRT cat. A and A+, ASUM, CMECmte–CMA, CSDMS, CSVS, SDMS, SVU; list is subject to change; see ARDMS.org for a complete list) (must be pre-printed; handwritten entries will be denied),
  • Title of course or activity (must be pre-printed; handwritten entries will be denied), and
  • Number of credit hours awarded (handwritten entries are acceptable).

3. Mail in your complete CME audit documentation (ARDMS transcript and copies of your CME certificates not listed on your ARDMS transcript) in the envelope provided. Please affix proper postage.

All documentation must be received in the ARDMS office on or before April 30, 2012.

Due to the large volume of CMEs that must be processed during the audit, ARDMS cannot verify whether or not we received your CME audit documentation, so you may want to send it using certified mail in order to receive a delivery receipt.

If there are questions concerning your submitted CME certificates, ARDMS reserves the right to request original documents.  Please keep copies of your CME documentation and this letter for your records.

If you fail to submit at least 30 ARDMS-accepted CMEs by April 30, 2012, your credential(s) will be revoked.

After your CME documentation has been received and reviewed, you will receive written notification from ARDMS.  You should receive your audit results by June 30, 2012.  Results will also be posted on the secure MY ARDMS section of ARDMS.org.  Results will not be released via phone, fax, or e-mail.

*If you earned your first credential in 2008, your three-year CME period began the day you attained the first credential and includes any time that remained in 2007 plus the next three years (January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2011).
