Overview

The Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination assesses the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities in physical principles and instrumentation for sonography professionals and students. It fulfills the fundamental requirements for RDMS, RDCS, RVT, and RMSKS credentials.

To earn a RDMS, RDCS, RVT, and RMSKS credentials, you must pass the SPI examination and a corresponding specialty examination within five years. After earning your 1st credential (RDMS, RDCS, RVT or RMSKS) by passing the SPI examination, you can earn additional credentials without having to retake the SPI examination, provided you maintain active status.

The SPI examination fee is $250 USD, which includes a $100 USD non-refundable processing fee. Apply for the SPI Examination.
