Charleston, South Carolina, Job Summary: At the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer plays a critical role in supporting high-quality patient care through the use of advanced ultrasound technology. This position is responsible for performing comprehensive sonographic examinations to capture diagnostic images of organs and soft tissues, accurately identifying and documenting anatomical, pathological, and functional findings. The sonographer works collaboratively with physicians and clinical teams to support timely, accurate diagnoses and uphold MUSC’s commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research. Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography; or High school diploma or GED and clinical ultrasound/vascular experience as approved by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in OB/GYN. A minimum of three (3) years of experience is required. Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Current registration as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Obstetrics and Gynecology through ARDMS or registration in OB/GYN through ARRT, including Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification ; must remain in good standing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA-recognized equivalent), or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers.
