TUS valuable for children diagnosed with DMD
A study of 60 children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy found that thoracic ultrasonography offers a noninvasive method to assess diaphragmatic changes linked to functional decline and sleep-related breathing problems. Published in the European Journal of Pediatrics, the research showed that nonambulatory children had thicker diaphragms but lower functional indices, suggesting structural adaptation as the disease progressed.
