The Neurosonology (NE) specialty examination for the RDMS credential is three hours long and contains 170 multiple-choice questions. In order to earn the RDMS credential, the neurosonology examination must be taken and passed in conjunction with the SPI examination.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: To adapt to the evolving field of sonography, the ARDMS Board of Directors has approved the decision to begin phasing out the Neurosonology specialty examination prior to the launch of the first Pediatric Sonography examination administration. Beginning 2015, the Neurosonology (NE) specialty examination will no longer be available. ARDMS is no longer accepting applications for the Neurosonology examination.

This changing specialty as well as input from a cross section of medical professionals and ARDMS Registrants guided the decision to incorporate select areas of the Neurosonology examination content into this new and comprehensive Pediatric Sonography certification. If you are currently certified in NE specialty, ARDMS will continue to support the NE specialty certification until your 10-year recertification cycle is completed.
